B.3: Palais Du Louvre

As the date for the Christina promenade approached, I wasn't sure what to expect...All I had heard about her was that she was a very knowledgeable person and that she walked faster than Susan in her fast shoes. So those facts alone made her slightly intimidating in my mind. Once we met her and realized she wasn't a "know-it-all" type of person and she was VERY passionate about what she was talking about and was excited to share her vast wealth of knowledge with us, my apprehensions disappeared instantly. How does one know SO much about all these seemingly un-noteworthy tiny details? It was amazing. I particularly found the most interesting parts of the tour to be all of the bloodiness of our surroundings past. It is very easy to come to a place as beautiful as Paris and just take in all the grandeur and think of queens and kings past. It becomes VERY easy to forget that behind all these beautiful things there is such a past in which some of these beautiful things had to be fought for or fought over. I am now looking forward to our next promenade with Christina at Versailles very much to see how everything ties together with the Louvre. I very briefly did some reading online about Marie Antoinette and found the history of her story and how it tied into part of the Palais du Louvre's past in a way. I can't wait to see what Christina tells us next about the wonderfully rich history of Paris and it's surroundings.
